Does anyone think that a pen holder is a great gift? There may be some, but in general people would think that would be a lame gift. However, if the pen holder has some sort of golf theme, there are many, many people who seem to think that a pen holder like that is a great gift. I know some of those people, and I have my very own golf club pen holder. The shaft come off of the club head and is a ball point pen, and the club head is magnetic so that it can hold paper clips.
I’ve been on the receiving end of many such gifts, and it’s made me a strong advocate of giving cash. Especially, if you’re exchanging gifts, it’s best to give each other cash, and then agree that no thank you cards are necessary.
For those who are giving a gift to a golfer this Christmas, here’s an idea. There are plenty of gifts for golfers, but oftentimes, even if you knew that the recipient wants a new wedge, you don’t necessarily know the specs for the wedge that the recipient needs. That’s when a gift card to Golfsmith
may come in handy. Every golfer is in need of something, even if it’s just a box of golf balls. Also, if the recipient is saving up for a new set of clubs or another high-priced purchase, the gift card would work perfectly for that.
For us golfers, how do we encourage someone who we suspect is likely to give us a piece of junk we don’t want? I’d say that now is the time for that. Most gifts haven’t been purchased, and it’s best to tell someone that you don’t want junk now. For most people, just giving them an idea of something that you actually do want will be good enough. For others, you’re going to have to come right out and tell them not to give you any office supplies or ornaments that hang off your golf bag.
