In Rankmark.com’s recent irons testing, the Callaway FT irons took 2nd place overall. Callaway made a very good showing in the test. The Callaway X-22 Irons took 3rd place, and Callaway walks away with 2 out of the top 5 spots. The Mizuno MP-52 irons took 5th place, and the Titleist AP2 irons took 4th place.

Ping Golf Clubs Carry Lorena Ochoa to Victory

Lorena Ochoa must enjoy playing in her native country of Mexico. She’s won the Corona Championship 3 times in 4 years, including Sunday’s victory to defend her title of 2008. Ochoa is the top player on the LPGA, and she plays Ping golf clubs. She’s the #1 ranked female golfer.

Last year, she won by 11 strokes—a complete blowout, but this year she was tied with Suzann Pettersen until she birdied the 15th hole. Ochoa also birdied the 16th hole, and won by 1 stroke.

Cleveland Golf Clubs Take Jerry Kelly to Zurich Classic Championship

Jerry Kelly managed to get his 3rd career PGA Tour victory on Sunday at the Zurich Classic, played at the TPC Louisiana in New Orleans. Kelly plays Cleveland golf clubs along with Steve Marino who he played the final round with. Steve bogeyed the 18th hole to fall one stroke behind the three players tied for 2nd.

The Titleist AP2 irons were submitted to Rankmark.com for their testing and comparison with many other brands. The AP2s did very well, taking 4th place, and beat out many other companies. You can click on Titleist golf clubs for a quick overview of all of Titleist’s irons and other clubs.

The AP 2 irons have been very successful on the PGA Tour. So far, in 2009, Nick Watney won the Buick Championship, and Zach Johnson and Adam Scott finished first and second at the Sony Open with the AP2 irons.

Rankmark.com tested the irons or several companies, and recently announced the 5 best sets. The Mizuno MP-52 irons took the 5th spot, which means that even though they’re not the best, they outrank the vast majority of other companies’ irons out there.

Mizuno is probably best known for their irons. Just last week, 4 out of the top 5 finishers at the PGA tournament in Harbor Town played Mizuno golf clubs—specifically Mizuno irons. The tight fairways and small greens favored accurate iron play.

New to the sport of golf, I was amazed at the grass—so short and seemingly perfect—on the putting green. I actually bent down and grazed my fingertips across it to dissuade my doubts that it was fake grass. Since then, I’ve played on some courses that are far more pristine than that 9-hole, par-3 municipal course. And I, like most golfers, no longer give much thought to the grass—unless something is wrong.

TaylorMade Burner Driver Takes Nick Price to 1st Champions Tour Victory

Nick Price has been on the Champions Tour for 2 years, and has struggled to get his first tour victory. That came to an end on Sunday when he won the Outback Pro-Am. He’s played 38 events on the Champions Tour.

Scott O’Meara joined the Champions Tour at the same time as Nick Price, and people have expected them to win more than they have. O’Meara is still looking for his first win.

Nick Price won more tournaments in the 1990s than any other player. So it was just a matter of time before he won on the Champions Tour.

Golf Club ThiefA set of golf clubs worth about $1000 was stolen from the trunk of a Scotsman in Edinburgh (where trunks are called boots). The owner was taking trips from the car to the house unloading the car, and when he went back out, the trunk was open and the clubs were gone.
