Beginning this month, Cobra golf clubs will start selling the 2009 King Cobra S9-1 line of drivers. Cobra says that there is a driver in the series for golfers of all skill levels, and it’s designed to create more, powerful, and accurate ball flight. Geoff Ogilvy used his Pro D S9-1 to win the Mercedes-Benz Championship in January.
Cobra decided to buck the trend of bigger and bigger club heads, and go with a more traditional look. It has a 460 cc head. There are several models and variations to choose from in the S9-1 line.
S9-1 Pro
The Pro D has a deep face design which generates high launch and low spin, providing a lower, piercing ball flight. The shallow-faced Pro S provides higher lauch, and low-medium spin, causing a higher ball flight. They both come with the Cobra/Matrix OZIK Xcon 6 shaft. Both designs lend themselves to helping better players the ability to work the ball.
S9-1 F
The S9-1 F is designed for fast-ball speed players. It provides a slight draw-bias, with high launch and low-to-medium spin. It comes with the Aldila DVS-HL or Graphite Design Tour AD shafts.
S9-1 M
The S9-1 M and M offset provide more draw bias, designed for moderate ball-speed players.
They utilize lighter shafts, which produce high launch and mid spin. The M Offset provides the maximum draw bias. The M and M offset come with the Aldila DVS-HL or Graphite Design Tour AD shafts.

Very early in the season, Geoff has made almost half as much money as he earned in 2008, and he stands at third place in the Fed-Ex cup standings. He tied for seventeenth place in the FBR Open, and 32nd place in the Sony Open.
Geoff was born in Adelaide, Australia, and it turns out he’s a distant relative of Sir Angus Ogilvy, part of Britain's Royal Family, and he’s also distantly related to Scotland's King of Bannockburn, Robert the Bruce. He started playing golf when he was 7 years old, and had a scratch handicap by the age of 16.
