The golf industry is getting creative in a tough economy. There are several great buys and interesting promotions. Here’s one of the best ones. If you buy a Callaway Big Bertha Diablo driver, FT-iQ driver, or FT-9 driver, from Golfsmith and Phil Mickelson or Rocco Mediate Win the U.S. Open (June 18-21), 100% of the purchase price will be refunded.
Unfortunately, this is only good for in-store purchases, and not website purchases. That’s not good news for those of us who live 2 hours from the nearest Golfsmith store. You must make your purchase by June 17 at midnight (assuming your Golfsmith store stays open until midnight).
Of course, the thing that would make this a really good deal is if Mickelson and Mediate have a chance of winning. Mickelson’s wife was diagnosed with breast cancer last month, and hasn’t played very much tournament golf since. Mediate played very well last year, losing in a playoff at Torrey Pines, but would certainly be considered a long shot.
Even though Mickelson hasn’t played much, I think he has a decent chance of winning. He’s the 2nd ranked player in the world, and that’s for good reason. He can really win at anytime. He’s already won twice this year, and will be playing in Memphis this week.
You can check out the reviews on the Callaway FT-9. The FT-iQ is an interesting design. It has a square shaped head, and that makes it more forgiving. The Big Bertha Diablo is a very good club, and Callaway has described this club as their best titanium driver ever.
