Ping G10 Driver Ranks #1 In Testing and Reviews

in

Here’s what the marketing department at Ping has to say about the Ping G10 driver, “Using finite element analysis (FEA) driven by a Cray Supercomputer, Ping engineers optimized the G10 driver's crown, sole and face structure interaction to ensure maximum energy transfer to the ball. The 460cc driver features a larger profile with a taller face and deeper crown that produces a higher MOI (moment of inertia) for greater forgiveness and increased ball velocity.”

“Thinner crown and face designs provided discretionary weight which is positioned inside the club head to lower the CG (center of gravity) for reduced spin and higher launch.”

That’s all very good information, but what really matters is how well the driver does in actual testing and reviews. In Rankmark.com’s recent driver test, the Ping G10 took 1st place overall out of 36 entries, and did very well in several categories, including, distance, feel and look.

Distance

The G10 took 3rd place in the distance category, which is one of the most important features of any driver, and something we all aspire to improve in our games. The TaylorMade Burner driver and the Nike SQ Dymo driver are the only drivers that beat out the G10 in distance.

Look

Look is something that shouldn’t matter, but when you’re standing over your driver, you don’t want an ugly driver, either. The G10 ranked #1 in look, and it is pretty cool looking as you can see in the video below.

Feel

Feel is a measure of how good the driver feels when you hit it, so it’s a very subjective category. A driver with good feel will also be easy to fade or draw. The G10 ranked #1 in this category.

Here’s a really cool video from Ping. The guy in the video talks a lot about the technology involved in the design of the G10, and some of its features.
