Ping golf clubs took Heath Slocum to his 3rd career PGA victory at the Barclays. It was an interesting finish, because Steve Stricker and Heath Slocum were 1 stroke ahead of Tiger Woods standing on the 72nd hole. I thought surely one of them would easily make par, and Tiger Woods was out of it. Both Stricker and Slocum hit bad tee shots, laid up short of the green with their 2nd shot, and hit mediocre 3rd shots. Slocum went first from about 21 feet, and knocked it in a miracle putt for par. Stricker missed his, and ended tied for 2nd.
I’m glad Heath Slocum won, but I was kind of rooting for Stricker to make his par putt. I always love to see playoffs for the victory.
Here are Heath Slocum’s clubs this week:
| Driver | Ping G15 9° |
| Fairway Woods | Adams 9032 14.5° |
| Hybrids | Adams Idea Pro 18° |
| Irons | Ping i15 (3-PW) |
| Wedges | Ping Tour W (54°), Cleveland CG14 (60°) |
| Putter | Ping Redwood Anser |
| Ball | Titleist Pro V1x |
Heath Slocum’s clubs are remarkably similar to Ryan Moore’s clubs who won the previous week. They both have Adams fairway woods, nearly the same hybrids, the same brand of irons, and almost the same gap wedge.
Here’s the tally of victories for each golf club company:
TaylorMade – 10
Nike – 8
Titleist – 5
Callaway – 2
Cobra – 2
Ping – 2
Mizuno – 2
Cleveland – 1
Adams – 1
Miscellaneous – 1
Both Titleist and TaylorMade have seemed to have a drought, with few victories lately. Ping’s only other victory came at the Masters when Angel Cabrerra won.
